THIS IS WATER - By David Foster Wallace from The Glossary on Vimeo.

In 2005, author David Foster Wallace was asked to give the commencement address to the 2005 graduating class of Kenyon College. However, the resulting speech didn’t become widely known until 3 years later, after his tragic death. It is, without a doubt, some of the best life advice we’ve ever come across, and perhaps the most simple and elegant explanation of the real value of education.

We made this video, built around an abridged version of the original audio recording, with the hopes that the core message of the speech could reach a wider audience who might not have otherwise been interested.

Abel lives in the winter and Apolline lives in the summer. Isolated in their “natures”, they never met each other. They are not even supposed to meet. So when Abel crosses the border and discovers Apolline, curiosity is overwhelming. Their encounter soon becomes more complicated than they could imagine. Both of them will have to learn compromise to protect the other…

New Zealand Landscapes Timelapse Volume Two from Bevan Percival on Vimeo.

This timelapse features my best work yet. It represents hours and hours of dedication to the art. I’m driven by chasing fleeting moments of damatic light on beautiful landscapes and also capturing the night sky and milky way in all it’s glory is a real buzz. Not be mention curling up out under the stars beside all the gear for whole nights at a time catching some sleep here and there between checking the gear and changing batteries and staring up into eternity with spectacular meteors burning up in the cosmic shore out the corner of your eye. Doing this sort of thing has bought me closer and closer to the wilderness. There is something about doing this sort of stuff that just makes you want to keep coming back for more and more. Maybe it’s the experience of being out there at one with the incredible beauty of this landscape. Maybe it’s the challenge of capturing it in the camera in the way that you witnessed it. Maybe it’s the excitement of seeing just what you got when you finally render it all out. Maybe it’s the satisfaction you get out of showing this to other people. Most probably it’s a combination of all these things.

I hope you enjoy watching this timelapse. Please leave a comment if you wish, I’d love to hear from you. It is my hope that in bringing back a little piece of nature to portray in this way helps spark the respect we need to have for such an incredible place.

All scenes shot in the North Island of New Zealand.

Main equipment used:
Canon 5D Mark II & various Canon Lenses
Dynamic Perception Stage Zero 6ft Dolly

Music:
“Go Beyond” by Ben and Matt Hales, licensed for use through Universal Publishing Production Music and APRA New Zealand.

Thanks to my family for putting up with my habit ;)

Morocco is a country that awakens in the photographer a desire for adventure.
From the green mountains of the northern Rif to the arid and warm desert of Erg Chebbi, Morocco offers endless opportunities to get those fantastic images that we have always dreamed of.

This trip to Morocco was certainly one of the most rewarding and enriching I have done so far, both for traveling alone and for the magnificent results that I have achieved. I have to say that I was very lucky with the weather and the people who kindly helped me throughout my stay.

And it was also very important the formidable equipment I have used: DSLR Sony A99 and Sony FS700, lent by Sony Spain, and Xlidercam-M, lent by kietacam.com. Therefore I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Javier Agueda, Jose Hernandez and Belen Arronte.

Beijing Silvermine - Thomas Sauvin from Emiland Guillerme on Vimeo.

Beijing Silvermine is a unique photographic portrait of the capital and the life of its inhabitants following the Cultural Revolution. It covers a period of 20 years, from 1985, namely when silver film started being used massively in China, to 2005, when digital photography started taking over. These 20 years are those of China’s economic opening, when people started prospering, travelling, consuming, having fun.

Jazz that nobody asked for from Benny Box on Vimeo.

A short film by Benny Box.

Sometimes a song can get stuck in your mind. Become a little piece of unwanted music, that keeps looping for the rest of your day.

Neurologists claim that stuck songs are like thoughts we’re trying to suppress. The harder we try not to think about them, the more we can’t help it. The phenomenon is also known as earworms, and the ongoing ‘dim di da da dum’ causes a kind of brain itch you can’t scratch.

Jazz that nobody asked for is an ode to all those unwanted songs out there, that have nowhere to go. The music that haunts this film, is the amazing swing jazz tune ‘Quaker City Jazz’ by the long forgotten ‘Jan Savitt and his Top Hatters’. In 1937 they were the first jazz big band to feature an african american vocalist.

The film is made without any financing, and has no commercial purpose. The love of all things animated has been the driving force for the small team of 3 persons that has created it.
